About Kor Photographie
The Photographer
Kor is a professional fine art photographer based in Bretagne (Brittany), a region in northwestern France known for its dramatic coastlines, ancient Celtic heritage, and unique quality of light. Working at the intersection of traditional photographic principles and contemporary digital techniques, Kor creates images that honor the rich history of fine art photography while exploring new possibilities in the medium.
Artistic Philosophy
My photographic philosophy is built on three core principles: authenticity, technical excellence, and emotional resonance. I believe that the best photographs emerge not from manipulation or artifice, but from a genuine connection between photographer, subject, and viewer.
In portrait photography, this means creating an environment of trust where subjects feel comfortable revealing their authentic selves. In artistic nude work, it requires the highest levels of professionalism and mutual respect. In landscape photography, it demands patience—waiting for that perfect convergence of light, weather, and atmosphere that transforms a good image into an exceptional one.
Technical Approach
All of my work is captured using professional Canon camera systems, chosen for their exceptional image quality, reliable performance, and ability to render subtle tonal gradations. I work primarily with prime lenses, which I find offer superior optical quality and encourage a more thoughtful, deliberate approach to composition.
Lighting is perhaps the most critical element in photography—it is, after all, the very essence of the medium. In studio work, I employ a minimalist approach, using carefully controlled artificial lighting to sculpt form and create mood. For environmental portraits and landscapes, I prefer natural light, often working during the golden hours of early morning and late afternoon when the quality of light is at its most beautiful.
The Brittany Connection
Brittany is more than just a location—it is an integral part of my photographic identity. This region's dramatic landscapes, from the Pink Granite Coast to the mysterious forests of Brocéliande, provide endless inspiration. The quality of Atlantic light, filtered through maritime atmospheres, creates conditions that are ideal for landscape photography.
The Celtic heritage of Brittany also informs my work. There is something about the ancient standing stones, the medieval towns, and the timeless coastal villages that speaks to a deeper understanding of place and history. This connection to tradition and rootedness balances the contemporary aspects of my photographic practice.
Collaboration and Gratitude
Photography, while often perceived as a solitary pursuit, is fundamentally collaborative. I am deeply grateful to the models who have worked with me over the years. Their trust, professionalism, and willingness to engage in the creative process have been essential to producing the work showcased in this portfolio.
Each photographic session is a dialogue—a conversation conducted through gesture, expression, and the subtle choreography of light and shadow. The best images emerge when this collaboration is genuine and when both photographer and subject are fully present in the moment.
